March 3rd Update for Families

Spring is on its way! With it, comes a number of annual processes and events. Friday March 4th is a Professional Development Day for educators. We will be working to further our knowledge and application of Culturally Relevant and Responsive Pedagogy and learning more about ways to spot and deal with cyberbullying. Students do not attend school on March 4th.

Earlier in February the Kindergarten registration window opened. Any child born in 2018 is eligible for Year 1 Kindergarten. Plans for a Kindergarten Orientation will be confirmed a little later this spring as we wait for further direction from Public Health on Enhanced Safety Measures. Balaclava School is open to Out of Catchment requests for all grades for the 2022-2023 school year. These forms must be submitted to our offices by March 4th for early confirmation of acceptance. March Break is just around the corner March 14-18th. Please be sure to follow the most up to date information regarding travel and school exclusion requirements. Finally, our photo retakes and Grad photos have been confirmed for April 6th.
