Featured Athlete of the Week – Josephine Hewick – Waterdown District High School

Josephine Hewick is grade 12 student leader at Waterdown District High School who attacks life much like she does volleyball; with vigorous hard work and a positive attitude.  Throughout her 4 years at WDHS Joey has excelled in variety of sports but volleyball is her true passion having played on the senior girls’ team since grade 9.  This honour roll student is team captain for the senior girls’ volleyball team and is the head coach for the midget girls’ volleyball team.  As a member of the Recreation and Leadership course Joey has refereed, run drills for grade 9 SPARK students, helped to organize the Terry Fox Run and acted as a scorekeeper for various sporting events.  She was instrumental in organizing and executing a volleyball tournament for WDHS feeder schools.  Joey’s coaches describe her as hard working, motivated, responsible and disciplined.  She will be joining the Lancer family next Fall as she has chosen to continue her volleyball endeavours at the University of Windsor.
