First Week Update
Dear Families of Ancaster Meadow,
Our first week back to school has been wonderful! The overwhelming feeling in the halls, classrooms, and on the playground is that of happy enthusiasm, along with calm.
Here is some information to help with the beginning of the year, including some actionable items. Please reach out if you require support.
Safe Arrival
When your child will be absent, late, or is required to leave early, please use the Safe Arrival Program to notify the school. It can be found in the Parent Portal and you can download it to your phone.
Information and Consent Forms
The following forms can be completed on the Parent Portal, and we ask that they are completed as soon as possible.
- Nutrition Break Form
- Early Closure and Evacuation Form
- Permission/Agreement
- Student Information Verification
Nutrition Program
Thanks to the hard work of our Home & School Chair, Reasa Diab, we have received funding to continue the Nutrition Program that began last year. Classes will receive a bin of nutritious snacks each day that all are welcome to access. We will be seeking volunteers to assist with the nutrition program, so please be sure to complete all necessary forms if you are interested in helping out: https://www.hwdsb.on.ca/ancastermeadow/2022/09/09/volunteers/
Stay tuned for the startup of pizza days!
Arrival and Dismissal
Now that students have had a chance to learn where to line up at the beginning of the day and where to go at the end of the day, we ask that all adults wait off to the sides of the playground. This will reduce the numbers on the playground, allow us to see who is on the playground, and ultimately help our teachers on duty supervise students without distraction.
Students with Medical Needs
If your child has a life-threatening allergy or has a medical condition for which they require medication or special accommodation while at school, please contact the office. Please note that medication cannot be administered without proper documentation, and documentation needs to be updated yearly. Mrs. McNicholls-Ramrattan may reach out to you to review and update existing Plan of Care information.
Anaphylaxis
Under the new Anaphylaxis Policy, parents must inform the homeroom teacher and office, in writing, if their child has severe, life-threatening allergies, as we need to ensure that safety precautions are put into place. Ancaster Meadow School is a Peanut/Nut Safe school, as we have several students with life-threatening allergies to peanuts and/or nuts.

Addressing Concerns
Please see the Addressing Concerns Flow Chart to assist you should a concern arise.
Transportation
We recognize that there have been several challenges with our buses this past week. It’s important to share concerns/issues that have been experienced. Please let the office know, and it’s also important to let https://www.hamiltonschoolbus.ca/ know. Thank you, and we are hopeful that the bumps in the road will be smoothed out!
Yours sincerely,
K. Dunford (Principal)
R. McNicholls-Ramrattan (Vice-Principal)
