Principal Update May 10

Hello,

For the first time, I am sending my weekly update through the School Messenger system. This system uses the same emails as the online attendance reporting system and some families may be receiving this message for the first time. Every week I post an update to our school website and families can arrange to receive these as an automated update, however the system did not have a lot of options for the school to customize the updates. The new system will allow the school a little more direct control in sending out email messages to better communicate with our community. If the system proves useful, it will gradually become a part of regular communication tools.

This week saw students from Ancaster Meadow participate in the Mayor’s Multi-faith Prayer Breakfast, go to McMaster for Let’s Talk Science, and our Kindergarten students host a wonderful Mother’s Day Tea.

Next week, we have students in water polo and flag football tournaments. Our grade 8 students will be selecting a Valedictorian. Public Health will also be in the school as part of the vaccination program for Intermediate students.

Some reminders about upcoming dates:

Monday May 20 is a holiday.

EQAO testing for grade 3 and 6 students in May 22, 23, and 27 (please try not to have outside of school appointments on these days)

Kindergarten and Grade 1 Orientation on Thursday May 23

Open House with a BBQ organized by our Home & School Association  on Wed June 5

I wish all our families who celebrate a happy and peaceful Ramadan. I also want to wish all the mother’s, aunts, grandmothers a Happy Mother’s Day weekend.
