Author Visits

Family Literacy Day started in 1999 and is held annually on January 27th.  This day is used to raise the awareness of the importance of reading and other literacy practices that can be participated in as a family.  Visit www.abclifeliteracy.ca to see what events are planned for your family to participate in around the city.

At Westwood, we are marking Family Literacy Day on Thursday January 26th with author visits for our students.  Parents are welcome to attend.  All author visits begin at 10:00am.

Author Rebecca Bender will be in the gym reading to children attending Family Literacy Centre and all kindergarten students.

“Tokyo Builds A Garden” author and illustrator Kellen Hatanaka and Erik Lappan will be celebrating the grand unveiling of our Story Walk located outside the kindergarten fence on Lynbrook Drive.  This installation was generously donated by the Hamilton Public Library and can be enjoyed as a family any day of the week.  Author Erik Lappan will be visiting the students in Grade 1 and Grade 2.

Author Michael Wade, writer of the And Then It Happened Series will be reading to Grades 3,4 and 5 in the Library.
