Challenges with OSSLT Online Trial

Today, HWDSB students were among the 100,000 students in 900 secondary schools invited to participate in the province-wide trial of an online version of the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).

This was the first time for this voluntary online trial for the Grade 10 literacy test. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties at EQAO most students were unable to log in and complete the test. This was a problem across the province.

To respect our students’ time and effort, HWDSB cancelled its participation in this trial test at 10:15 a.m. We regret that this had to happen but EQAO could not address the technical issues in a timely manner.

Students were redirected back to their regularly scheduled classes. We are expecting more information from EQAO about this online trial and whether it will be rescheduled at a later date.

We are deeply grateful for the patience and understanding of our students and staff as EQAO works to resolve this issue.

A reminder that this was a trial only and that the actual OSSLT test is scheduled to take place on March 30, 2017.

If you have any questions, please contact the school.

Please see the following letter from EQAO regarding the cancellation of the trial online Grade 10 literacy test.
