Sept. 22 Updates from Tiffany Hills

We hope all of our students are enjoying a wonderful day off school.  Our staff have been engaged in learning sessions throughout the day as we discussed and learned about our student data, planned and talked about documentation of student progress and setting goals for students.  Here are some updates from our school…

Terry Fox Day will be Thursday September 28th as we collect Toonies for Terry and run a route on our back field in honour of his efforts to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research.  Students should bring appropriate footwear for walking or running, and a water bottle.  Our run will begin with the K-4 students during 5th period, and the Grades 5-8 students during the last period of the day.  Donations of any amount are welcome and all proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Fund.

Around the HWDSB and across our nation, many schools will be participating in Orange Shirt Day on Friday September 29th.  Across Canada students and families will be remembering and honouring the lives lost and of the survivors of Canada’s Indian Residential Schools and to acknowledge that every child matters.  Tiffany Hills students will be encouraged to wear orange that day and participate in a school-wide assembly in the morning.

Meet the Teacher Night will be Thursday October 5th 4:30-6:30.  Once again, the Ancaster Lions Club will be on site selling BBQ items, the proceeds of which go directly back into the Ancaster community.  We look forward to seeing our families here and for our parents to meet their child’s teachers for this school year.  More information will come home in the week ahead.

Parents are reminded to drive slowly and safely in our parking lot and along Raymond Rd.  Particularly at dismissal time, there are many students exiting our building and walking along the sidewalks.  Cars are asked to park only designated in parking spots or along the side of the road.  If using the Kiss & Ride lane on the north end of our school, please do not leave your car unattended.  This area is for quick drop offs & pick ups only.

Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!
