GLS1O1 Learning Strategies 1: Skills for Success in Secondary School, Grade 9, Open
This course explores learning strategies and helps students become better, more independent learners while increasing their personal management skills, both in school and in other contexts. Students will learn how to develop and apply a range of strategies to improve their learning and achievement, particularly their literacy, numeracy, communication, and planning skills. This course will increase students’ confidence, motivation, and ability to learn.
GLC2O3 Career Studies, Grade 10, Open
This course teaches students how to develop and achieve personal goals in education and work and contribute to their communities. Student learning will include assessing their own knowledge, skills, and characteristics and investigating economic trends, workplace organization, work opportunities, and ways to search for work. The course explores postsecondary learning options, prepares students for community-based learning, and helps them build the capabilities needed for managing work and life transitions. Students will design action plans for pursuing their goals.
GLD2O1 Discovering the Workplace, Grade 10, Open
This course provides students with opportunities to discover and develop the workplace essential skills and work habits required to be successfully employed. Students will develop an understanding of work through practical hands-on experiences in the school and in the community, using real workplace materials. They investigate occupations of interest through experiential opportunities (e.g., worksite visits, hearing guest speakers, job shadowing, work experience, simulations, entrepreneurial projects). This course helps students make plans for continued learning and work.
GWL3O1 Designing Your Future, Grade 11, Open
This course prepares students to make successful transitions to postsecondary work and education or training. Students will explore the realities and opportunities of modern workplaces, while refining their employability skills and learning how to manage their careers. Students will target appropriate postsecondary education or training options and begin to implement an action plan for postsecondary success.

GPP3O1 Leadership and Peer Support, Grade 11, Open
This course prepares and motivates students to provide leadership and assistance to others in their schools and communities. Students will develop skills in communication, interpersonal relations, coaching, leadership, teamwork, and conflict management, and apply them in roles such as tutoring, mentoring, and student council involvement. Students will also learn the value and complexity of social diversity, while acquiring an appreciation of the importance of contributing to their communities and helping others throughout their lives.

GLN4O1 Navigating the Workplace, Grade 12, Open
This course provides students with opportunities to develop the workplace essential skills and work habits required for success in all types of workplaces. Students will explore occupations and careers of interest through participation in real workplace experiences (e.g., information interviews, work experiences). They will make plans for continued learning and work, work with others to design learning experiences, and investigate the resources and support required to make a smooth transition to their postsecondary destination.
GLS4O1 Advanced Learning Strategies: Skills for Success After Secondary School, Grade 12, Open
This course improves students’ learning skills, preparing them to make successful transitions to work and postsecondary education and become independent, lifelong learners. Students will learn how to assess their learning abilities and use critical reading, time management, and other techniques for promoting effective learning. In addition, they will investigate learning requirements for employment and postsecondary education or training and develop plans for learning after secondary school.
