In 2005 The Profiling Excellence Committee was formed with the goal of recognizing excellence in our District. Members of the Committee are committed to developing a framework to recognize excellence within the HWDSB in a consistent manner.

Where is our focus for "Profiling Excellence"?

  • Board Departments
  • School Divisions/Departments
  • Specific programs within departments and schools
  • Awards for any given Academic year will be selected and celebrated in the fall of the subsequent year.

Application Package - Top

Instructions on Downloading the Application Package:

  • With your mouse, right click on "Application" on the right
  • Click on the "SAVE TARGET AS"
  • Save the file to your hard drive
  • Open the file using Word and fill out the application

Five "Foundations of Excellence"

Performance

The school/department has an outstanding record of performance measured in terms of student results and school accomplishments.

Community

The school/department works collaboratively with parents, business and the community to create a positive school environment.

Specialization

The school/department has an identifiable specialization or whole school model with objectives that address student educational needs.

Teaching

The school/department staff is engaged in professional development activities and/or research that contribute to exemplary teaching practices in the classroom.

Innovation

The school/department has a practices(s) that is innovative, promotes high student achievement and can be replicated.

Individual Recognition - Top

This program profiles individual staff or students who have been recognized for their accomplishments and contributions outside of the HWDSB. Individuals are recognized at monthly Board Meetings. As this is an ongoing recognition program, applications will be accepted throughout the year, from August to May. Applications are to be forwarded to Sue Phillips (sue.phillips@hwdsb.on.ca) in the Director’s Office.
