Thank You! – SWO Staff were blown away by the amazing lunch and gifts shared with us at the Staff Appreciation Lunch held on Thursday May 10th. Our sincerest thanks to everyone who helped to make us feel so spoiled and special. It really made our day.

Kindness is Contagious! The hard copies of this book written by 5 classes in our school have arrived. There are copies for the Learning Commons collection, and many families have purchased copies for themselves.

On Wednesday May 9th, SWO hosted Wellness Night. This evening was made possible by the planning, organization and hard work of Ms. Kott and Neha G. About 50 families registered to participate in yoga, cardio, snake ball and coding sessions.

The Annual Spring Music Concert took place on May 2nd. The evening was enjoyed by many SWO families and under Mrs. Kortmann’s direction, the students performed with confidence. Mrs. Kortmann and her musicians will also be participating in Choir Fest on May 16th.

On Friday May 11th, the Go Girls, Mrs. Acevedo, Mrs. Kott and the Admin Team participated in the Climb for Cancer at Tim Horton’s Field. A donation of $900.00 was made as well, from the proceeds of a bake sale held on April 26th.

On Thursday May 10th, French Immersion students had a surprise guest – Mr. Stevenson is a producer/director who works on developing various media projects. He brought in the oldest known hockey stick in the world (circa 1780’s) as an artifact to show the students. He also shared part of a documentary he made about this hockey stick. Students had many excellent questions for Mr. Stevens. Thanks to Mme. O’Neil and Mme. Lewis for arranging this opportunity.

Leadership Council continues is important work in exploring ways to promote our understanding of reconciliation. A Dish with One Spoon workshop was held on April 26th in the Learning Commons
