Great results at BASEF for HWDSB

HWDSB students had a great showing at the 57th annual Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair awards ceremony sponsored by ArcelorMittal Dofasco held Tuesday night at Mohawk College.

Two HWDSB students placed among the five high school projects selected to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles: Margaret Williams from Ancaster High School and Camila Moran-Hidalgo from Westdale secondary.

Margaret’s project was on The Antimicrobial Efficacy of Steel, Copper and Brass in Reducing Health Care-Associated Pathogens, while Camila explored Membrane-Based Nanostructured Biosensor to Detect Pathogens.

In addition, students advancing to the Canada Wide Science Fair in Regina included Anika Gupta (Westdale), Neha Gupta (Sir William Osler elementary).

Congratulations to all the students who entered.
