Evacuation to Bagshaw Today

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

As you may know, this afternoon the fire alarm sounded and Sir Wilfrid Laurier School was evacuated. Thankfully, there was no fire, however, the alarm was triggered due to flooding caused by a burst pipe. All students were cared for and kept safe.

As per the HWDSB Fire Safety Plan, students and staff evacuated the building immediately and called 911. Due to the cold weather today, staff escorted students directly to Elizabeth Bagshaw Elementary School.

The Hamilton Fire Department responded and the water leak was addressed. Once it was safe to do so, students returned to school with staff by school bus.

A big thank you to students and staff for following safety procedures today. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding and support.

Sincerely,

Deb Sprentz
Principal
