Average Class Size Reports

Students are achieving their full potential thanks to Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board’s plan to reduce class size for JK to Grade 3. Members of staff at the Board have worked diligently to organize the best program for each of our students and to comply with the Ministry’s standard for class size allowance.

We know that students in smaller classes receive more attention and have greater success in the early grades. This makes it much more likely that they will excel in high school and graduate.

Class size legislation was first introduced in 1997. The legislation established a maximum average class size for elementary school and secondary schools.
