Our School

Rousseau school is a one floor building, constructed in 1958. It has grassed areas with mature trees, three tarvia areas and an exciting creative playground.

The school is well established, so we now teach the children of former Rousseau graduates. We serve approximately 256 children, from JK to Grade 6, on a balanced day schedule. Rousseau is a community school with a big heart and strong traditions including supporting local, national and international charities and families, as well as an annual “Fun Fair”.

Rousseau enjoys the benefit of a large number of volunteers, who work here daily. They work with children individually or in small groups, with clubs or sports, with driving students to events, with chaperoning students on trips, with our School Improvement Planning process, with School Council or with other activities. Rousseau has well developed “Learning Communities” for staff that meet regularly to learn about instruction and assessment with respect to Math, Literacy and Positive Culture and Well-Being. The Rousseau vision statement says it all: “Rousseau is a place, where we have a Passion for Learning, and where our students come to school because it is fun to learn within a respectful environment.”
