School Policies and Procedures

Communication

Home and school communication is vital to the success, achievement, and well-being of our students.  Parents and teachers can communicate via student agendas, written notes, email, and telephone.  Please contact the office if you need to pass on information to a staff member, and/or you would like to set up a time to discuss any questions or concerns you may have. If your child needs to be dismissed early from school, please send a note to your child’s teacher in the morning.  Please come to the office when picking up your child.

Contact Information

An update Emergency School Closure form will be sent home at the beginning of the school year.  Information regarding babysitting arrangements, emergency contact phone numbers, and family doctor is requested. The office needs to have current emergency contact phone numbers and medical information at all times. For your child’s safety, please inform the office of any changes that may occur throughout the year. Information from the office will be sent home with the oldest or only child.

Attendance

Punctual and regular attendance is essential to learning and maintaining effective progress at school.  Students master new skills and acquire knowledge through regular participation in classroom discussions and instruction practices. When a student will be absent, please call the school at (905) 549-4233 and slowly state the name of the child, the grade, and the teacher’s name. If a student is absent and no call is recorded, a call will be made to your home, work, or emergency contact number.

Arrivals and Dismissal

The playground is supervised from 8:25 am to morning entry at 8:40 am. For your child’s safety, please ensure your child is not dropped off at school before there is teacher supervision. Instructional time begins at 8:40 am.  A student who arrives after the start of instructional times is marked late. Students who arrive late must enter through the front door and check in at the office so that we can accurately monitor student attendance. All students are dismissed at 3:00 pm.  Students are permitted to play on the Creative Playground after dismissal only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
