Our School

Queen Victoria School serves students in JK-8 and we are on a balanced day.  The present building opened on March 26, 2009 and is located in the Corktown and Stinson neighbourhoods in downtown Hamilton.  Our school is actively participating in the HWDSB iPad 1:1 program, which allows all students in Grades 4 to 8 to have access to an iPad.  Our students make active use of the learning commons and can access Corktown Park. Students enjoy close proximity to the downtown core to visit the library, entertainment venues and can access the HSR for bus trips throughout the city.

Queen Victoria School is a mentor school for students attending Mohawk College, Brock University and McMaster University.  We are fortunate to have students completing practicums for Child and Youth Worker, Educational Assistant and Bachelor of Education/Primary Education students at Queen Victoria.  In addition, a number of volunteers support our students through Frontier College and the Big Brothers Big Sisters In School Mentor program.  Many of these students return when their placements are finished.  Our school is stronger because of the support we receive from volunteers.

Technology plays a key role in student learning at Queen Victoria School.  We are part of the Transforming Learning Everywhere initiative and as such many of our students will be learning with the use of iPads or iPad minis.  Our students are also benefiting from the use of Apple TVs, document cameras, Livescribe pens and ereaders in their classrooms.
