Home Tips for a Successful Term 2

Parents/Guardians:

Term two is well underway.  Now that you’ve had a chance to review with your child their report card and have set some goals for next term, families can help their child succeed in school by:

  • Establishing routines for homework completion – a set time and place for your child to complete school work.  If all work is complete, 20 to 30 minutes of reading for enjoyment is recommended.
  • Setting and holding to a reasonable bedtime.  Young adolescents need 8-10 hours of sleep every night.
  • Establish morning routines that include time for proper hygiene, a good breakfast and arriving at school on time.
  • Talk to your child about what they are learning at school and other issues they are concerned about.  Keeping the lines of communication open is so very important.
