We are rethinking the way we offer programs and facilities so that we can meet the needs of each of our students in the 21st century. We know today’s learners require new approaches, as we strive to prepare students for a future we haven’t thought of yet.
This work impacts how teachers teach, how students learn, how we connect with our community and so much more. It includes teaching higher-order thinking skills, using appropriate learning tools and technologies, and fostering the 21st-century fluencies defined below.
The 21st Century Fluencies team works within the context of HWDSB’s Strategic Directions, and specifically documents such as Education in HWDSB and Learning for All: HWDSB Program Strategy.
Our initiatives are helping to bring innovation to HWDSB classrooms, create networks for staff and student learning, and encourage personalized forms of learning that put the student at the centre of his or her education.
