School History
Opening in 1960, Parkside High School is located within the town of Dundas. Parkside is one of the smaller secondary schools in the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. The school has a student population of approximately 700 pupils studying in classes from Grade 9 to 12. Our student body is composed of students from urban Dundas and rural Flamborough. There is a principal, one vice-principal, and a teaching staff of 40.
Almost all of Parkside's grade 9 students come to Parkside from two feeder schools - Dundas Central and Spencer Valley School. There are also a few students who enter into Grade 9 from other elementary schools both from within and outside the HWDSB.
Parkside is a high school with a long tradition of excellence in the 3A's: Academics, the Arts and Athletics. Parkside features an outstanding award-winning music program and an award- winning drama program. Parkside has had a noted reputation for producing winning athletic teams especially in basketball. The school, therefore, continues to offer a very wide range of extra-curricular activities for the students. There is a complete program of female and male sports teams; a full music program including wind ensemble, concert and jazz bands and choir; and a drama program which continues to win competitions. Our teaching staff deserve a lot of credit for continuing to organize and run these various activities.
