Academic Achievement

Specific achievement is celebrated at the Junior Awards and at Graduation.

A student who maintains an 80% or better average will be placed on the Principal's Honour Roll, if they take the requisite number of courses (best six in grade 12, best seven in grade 11, best eight in grades 9 or 10) at day school, night school or eLearning through a Ministry-accredited educational facility. In addition, Grade 12 students who maintain an 80% or better average will be named Ontario Scholars.

Cafeteria

The Cafeteria's normal operational hours are 7:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. A variety of menu items are available as well as a variety of drinks including juices, soft drinks, coffee, etc. A vending machine outside the cafeteria provides students with an assortment of snack foods. Students are expected to place all garbage in the appropriate containers in the cafeteria.

Students are encouraged to make an appointment with guidance for course scheduling, credit requirements, career planning, counseling, student assistance, scholarship and bursary information, graduation concerns etc. Counselors are also available to discuss home, school, or social concerns. Students are to make appointments before school, at break, at lunch or after school.

Halls

Halls are out of bounds during all periods except for the first ten minutes and last ten minutes of the period. Respect the fact that classes are taking place and need to be afforded an environment where learning can take place. In addition, please use the garbage receptacles provided. Do not litter the hallways.

Lockers

Lockers are provided by the school for use by the student but are the property of the school. Students are responsible for keeping their lockers clean and graffiti free. Student locker combinations must be provided to the office for security reasons; your combination should not be given to others. Failure to use the locker assigned to you may result in the removal of the lock and any items in the locker.

Nurse's Office

The nurse's office exists for emergency situations as well as a waiting area for students who are going home due to illness or injury. The school nurse is available for counseling services for students. Appointment requests will be taken at the office if you would like to use the counseling services available.

There is no guarantee, outside of these periods, that a request to change a course will be approved.

Transportation

If students live within a designated area zoned for school bus service, the student may use the school bus service. Students who fail to maintain appropriate conduct on the bus, waiting for the bus, or walking to or from the bus stop may lose the privilege of riding the bus and/or face disciplinary action.
