Business Department

Parkside offers a wide range of Business courses. Within the business department a large number of Information Technology courses are also offered. I.T. courses include both computer programming and computer application courses. Parkside business students have excelled at local, regional, provincial and international competitions. At DECA (Business competition) our students consistently receive top awards at provincial and international competitions. At the computer programming contest, our best finish was 3rd in the province. Parkside students have won the city competition numerous times in recent years.

Business Courses
Grade 9 or 10, BBI1O or BBI2O, Introduction to Business Studies. Topics include finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, international business and the role and impact of business.

DECA

Parkside was the first school in the province to offer DECA as part of the curriculum. DECA is also offered as a club outside the school day.

Computer Applications
Grade 9 or 10, BTT1O or BTT2O, Introduction to Computers. Topics include computer hardware, word processing, desktop publishing, web page design, spreadsheets and databases. The BTT course provides
Information Technology skills that can be transferred to all other classes and outside of school as well.
Grade 11, BTA3O, Computer Applications and Web Page design.
Grade 12, BTX4C, Computer Application, project management and Web Pages.

Computer Programming
Grade 10, TIK2O, Introduction to Programming. Topics include computer hardware, networks, computer programming, problem solving.
Grade 11, ICS3M, Computer programming and problem solving.
Grade 12, ICS4M. Advanced programming and problem solving
