Panther Packs Club
Background
The Panther Pack Leadership Program commenced in 1996 to provide
an easier transition for Grade 8 students entering high school.
This program was a pioneer in the areas of student leadership
and peer mentorship. The role of a Panther Pack Leader has
become one of the most celebrated and sought after positions
in the school. Leadership, interpersonal, and communication
skills combined with emphasis on reliability and accountability
are essential for the success of this program that is led
by Grade 10 – 12 students.
Events
- Leadership Training in August with the student Leaders.
- Grade 9 orientation day in August.
- Cooperative activities during the first week of school.
- Monthly activities focusing on anti-bullying, surviving
the first set of exams, guest speakers etc.
- Peer mentorship throughout the school year.
Accomplishments
The Panther Pack Leadership Program won the Hamilton Wentworth
District School Board Profiling Excellence Award in 2007.
Winner of the National Leadership in Education Award (Readers
Digest Foundation) in 1997.
