DECA Club
Background
The DECA Business Club started in 2000 and was the first DECA
brach in the HWDSB. Parkside is a huge contender in the competitive
arena. DECA assists students in developing their interpersonal,
communication and problem solving skills through conferences,
competitions and networking opportunities.
Events
Fall Symposium – leadership training for students
Regional competition in November.
North Atlantic Conference (NARCON) for leadership workshops,
training and networking
Provincial competition against all schools across Ontario
to qualify for Internationals.
International Career Development Conference (ICDC) - competition
against over 15 000 students.
Accomplishments
- This year in Orlando, Parkside had eight students attending:
three in leadership conferences and five competitors
- Parkside students managed to win 5 medals in the first round
and three students qualified for the finals
- Final round results were: a 12th place winner, a 7th place
winner and one 3rd place finisher.
