Book Club
The Parkside Book Club is open to students in any
grade. The club comes up with a list of book titles at its
first meeting that we would like to read during the course
of the year. The intent of the club is to share a love of
reading in an informal setting which encourages discussion
and analysis of books both classic and temporary. Past selections
have included Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose, Christopher
Paolini’s Eragon, Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident
of the Dog in the Night-time, Margaret Atwood’s Handmaid’s
Tale, and Stephen Frey’s A Million Little Pieces. All
genres of fiction and nonfiction are considered and, at each
meeting, the group votes on the next book to be placed on
our reading list.
The club usually meets at lunch, sharing good food and great
literature!
