Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) and the Parent Involvement Committee are pleased to present Focus 4 Family at Parkview School this April.
Focus 4 Family is a program designed to offer educational, recreational and creative programs for your family. Our goal is to create learning opportunities that will engage, empower, and educate all families in HWDSB. Focus 4 Family programs are for every member of your family (newborns to seniors).
Our pilot program runs Wednesday nights in April (April 6th, 13th, and 20th, 2011) at Parkview School located at 60 Balsam Ave (across from Ivor Wynne stadium).
Families will join us for a healthy meal at 5:30 pm catered by our Parkview students. After dinner, families will have the opportunity to participate in the program of their choice.
Each program runs for three weeks and will culminate with a celebration on April 20th, 2011. There is no charge to participate in the Focus 4 Family program.

Parent/Adult Programs
Nutrition
Explore healthy meal ideas for your family. Participants will make and take home a different meal every class as well as create a recipe resource designed to spice up your weekly meal plans.
Computer Training
Participants will learn the basics of Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint and Excel), managing multimedia files (photos, videos and music) and internet search skills.
Zumba
Are you ready to party yourself into shape? That’s exactly what the Zumba® program is all about. It’s an exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party. Join our instructor for three 60 minute classes. Participants will be asked to complete a PARQ (Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire).
Children’s Programs - Grade 1 to Grade 5
Floorball
Get active with this exciting new sport. Join our team for an exciting session of skill development, fitness and fun! Participants require loose fitting clothing and running shoes.
Arts and Crafts
From creative crafts to digital photography your little Picasso will get their artistic juices flowing. Clear room on the fridge!
Dance
Boogy down and get your groove on with our dynamic dance team.
Tween and Teen Programs - Grade 6 to Grade 10
Cartooning and Anime
Get started with learning how to draw various anime and cartoon characters, learn tips on drawing and design your own comic with our talented art team.
Leadership Training
Begin to build your resume. Participants will learn how they can be leaders in their schools and community.
Homework Help
Do you have the homework blues? Join our team for the individualized help you need. Our tutors will help you study, write, solve, or create. Sign up today.
Hip Hop
Dance the night away with this fun program designed to teach new dance moves. Participants’ hard work will be showcased at our year end celebration.
Focus 4 Family is offered to families across HWDSB at no charge. Transportation is provided upon request.
Registration Information
If you are interested and wish for your family to attend, please complete the registration form and return it to your child’s teacher as soon as possible. Spaces are limited. Forms are due no later than Friday, March 25th to your child’s teacher. Please select which programs you and your family would like to attend. All registrations will be confirmed the week of March 28th, 2011.
