HWDSB Trustees Looking for Help Determining Ward Distribution

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) is undertaking a review of trustee electoral areas prior to the 2018 municipal elections. Current Trustees are seeking input from the public to help determine ward distribution. Members of the community are invited to attend a public meeting to offer feedback on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Education Centre (20 Education Court). Confidential feedback is also being accepted through HWDSB’s website at www.hwdsb.on.ca/feedback until 4 p.m. on March 31, 2018.

“With an election coming up later this year, we are looking to align our ward boundaries to reflect that of the City of Hamilton,” said Todd White, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “We know and understand we are asking the public for their input in a very short time frame, especially during March Break, however, we need to make sure that we are representing our constituents and schools accurately.”

As part of Ontario Regulation 412/00, of the Education Act, Election to and Representation on District School Boards, individual school boards are responsible for making recommendations to the Minister of Education about the composition and geographic distribution of trustee electoral areas.
