Eastdale / Mountain View Information Meeting

Last year, HWDSB received 11.5 million dollars to build a new K-8 elementary school on the Eastdale site. Planning is underway and construction at Eastdale is expected to commence this summer.

During the construction period, Eastdale students will be accommodated at Mountain View School starting September 2018.

French Immersion Applications Ends Soon

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) French Immersion registration ends on Thursday, November 30, 2017, for parents looking to enrol their child in Grade 1.

HWDSB has introduced a new system-wide application process for entry into French Immersion, which starts in Grade 1. The application is available to all students within Hamilton and offers a guaranteed placement in the program, but not necessarily at their French Immersion in-catchment school.

French Immersion Boundary Review Advisory Panel Meeting #2

On October 26, 2017, HWDSB staff held a public consultation meeting to provide community input regarding the recommendations for French Immersion boundaries and school locations for Lower Stoney Creek and East Hamilton.
To support ongoing community input, we are meeting with the Advisory Panel to review data from the public meeting and collaboratively identify key information to help Trustees to make an informed decision on December 18, 2017.

Pathways Information Open House

Students in grades 9 to 12 can also meet partners who can help them earn Community Involvement Hours.

In the past at HWDSB, family members could attend “observation visits” in Kindergarten. For the 2017-18 school year, we will be using the new, written Kindergarten report provided by the Ministry of Education.

Hamilton-Wentworth Student Transportation Services (HWSTS) has advised Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) and Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board (HWDSB) that a bus driver shortage may impact local school bus routes.
