Full-day Kindergarten Coming To More Hamilton Area Schools In 2011
Hamilton elementary schools will continue to open their doors for this second round of full-day kindergarten in September 2011.
The selection of 2011 full-day kindergarten schools is the next step toward the full implementation of the program by 2015-16. Local schools that will begin offering the program in 2011 are:
— Guy Brown Public School, Lisgar Public School, Mount Hope Public School, Westwood Public School and Yorkview School
5 additional local schools will offer the program in 2011. There are already 11 local schools selected for the first year of full-day kindergarten that starts this September. Parents can visit Ontario.ca/EarlyLearning to find out which local schools will offer the program during the first year.
Full-day kindergarten is an important part of the government’s Open Ontario Plan. It provides kids with a strong foundation for future learning, so they can go on to postsecondary education and get a good job. Full-day kindergarten and seamless before- and after-school programs also help busy parents save time and money.
