Hamilton, ON – December 4, 2012: Trustees at Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board voted last night to re-elect Tim Simmons, Trustee for Ward 3, as Board Chair for the 2012-2013 school year. This is Chair Simmons second year as Chair of the Board.
Trustees re-elected Trustee Bob Barlow as Vice-chair, who will hold the office for a second year. Trustee Barlow has been a Trustee for Wards 9 & 10 for over nine years and has served on several board-mandated and community committees.
“I thank all my fellow Trustees for showing confidence in my leadership and re-electing me for a second year,” said Chair Simmons. “HWDSB has a long history of strong Chairs and the Chair is only good as their fellow trustees and the staff working with them.”
In the upcoming year, Trustees are committed to continuing their work towards greater student achievement, continuing the governance review, implementing the Board decisions around Accommodation Reviews and enhancing relationships with Board staff, students, parents and the community.
Trustee Simmons was born in Hamilton and is an active member of the Hamilton community. He has two children in the French Immersion stream at HWDSB. He is also a coach with flag football, a community representative for Babe Ruth baseball, a member of the steering committee for the Downstairs Kitchen, an associate member of the Academy of Political Science and is past-president of the Hamilton Chapter of The Council of Canadians.Have a great story?
