Track and Field Day

Our Mary Hopkins School Track and Field Event will be held on Monday June 4th.  All students in Grades 2-5 participate in this day as part of their Physical Education Program. The students in Grades 2 & 3 will be participating in the morning (Periods 1-3) and the students in Grades 4 & 5 will be participating in the afternoon. (Periods 4-6).   The top two finishers in each event, from Grades 3-5 only, may go on to the next level of competition on Thursday June 21st at the Mohawk Sports Complex. (Details to follow).

Training: All of the students have been preparing for Track and Field as part of their Physical Education classes. Our focus is on developing skills while also participating and having fun.  Please reinforce with your child that it is important that they do their best and have fun!

Weather: We will be outside for a large portion of the day, so it is important that children are protected from the elements.  The event will run rain (light rain) or shine…so please check the weather forecast that morning and send your child suitably dressed for the weather.  (Including sunscreen and a protective hat if necessary).  Please also ensure that your child has their running shoes that day:)

Hydrationis extremely important to hydrate before and after events so please ensure your child has a water bottle CLEARLY LABELLED with their name.  Please remind your child to drink lots to avoid dehydration.

Parent Volunteers: We need many parent volunteers to help make this event successful. If you are able to help us out, please send a note in your child’s agenda indicating when you are able to help.  Thank-you in advance.  Image result for track and field clip art
