Special Assignment Teacher Update

It is April and it is Forest of Reading voting month. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed the books and the students are excited about voting for their favourites. We are in the final planning stages with the Hamilton Public Library in regards to the Celebration parties and I will be in contact with many of the schools who registered with OLA with the details. At this point the parties will take place between Monday April 30 and Thursday May 3 at the Central Branch and other satellite locations.
Leadership Conference

Last week, Svetlana and I had the opportunity to participate in The HWDSB Path to Leadership Conference for Aspiring Service Leaders. HWDSB employees from many different departments were able to connect, network and share experiences and ideas. We focused on developing our service leadership skills and abilities based on the HWDSB Service Leadership Framework. We were guided through a self-assessment tool, talked about Leadership Portfolio Development ~ hard portfolios and e-portfolios, previewed eLearning resources for leadership development and practiced Collaborative Inquiry. I was motivated to continue my learning experience and decided to search our recently launched ebook site ~ eMAX ~ for a book on leadership. I found the perfect title ~ The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader by John C. Maxwell. I checked it out, downloaded it to my KOBO and have already started reading it. It’s a quick read and very interesting. Be sure to check it out on eMAX ~ but not until I have finished reading it
