Summit Park Boundary Review

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,

Re: Boundary Review – Billy Green, Janet Lee, Tapleytown & New School at Summit Park

At the June 12, 2017, Board meeting, Trustees approved a boundary review to create a new boundary for the JK – 8 school planned for the Summit Park site, located on the corner of Keystone Crescent and Bellagio Avenue south of Rymal Road East. The new Summit Park school boundary will impact existing school boundaries for Billy Green, Janet Lee and Tapleytown schools. This change will help to balance enrolment, reduce accommodation pressure, reduce reliance on temporary accommodation and improve student walk-ability.

A Boundary Review Advisory Panel, including representatives from School Council and Home & School Association (where they exist) from each of the affected schools, will be meeting on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Janet Lee Elementary School at 6:30 p.m. The Advisory Panel will review initial plans for the proposed new school boundaries and provide feedback and recommendations to staff prior to the public consultation meeting.

You are invited to attend a Boundary Review Public Meeting taking place on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Billy Green Elementary School at 6:00 p.m. At this meeting, staff will provide an overview of proposed boundary changes, answer questions and gather input from community members.

If you have any questions about this information, please contact your school Principal, me, or your area Trustee (Jeff Beattie – Billy Green, Janet Lee, Alex Johnstone – Tapleytown).

Sincerely,

Jeff Gillies
Superintendent of Student Achievement
