Highview School Reorganization

Dear Parents/Guardians:

RE: Class Reorganization

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board reviews its student enrolment numbers in each school at this time of year. The enrolment numbers are compared to the projected enrolment numbers determined at the end of the previous school year, which initiates the staffing process.

As we look to meet the provincial class size requirements and finalize the enrolment numbers for this school year, it’s typical for student enrolment to fluctuate.

There is a need to make some adjustments to our school classroom organizations based on our confirmed enrolment. Specifically, at our school we have:

• Created an additional grade 1/2 combined class due to an increase in our school enrolment in our primary grades and will therefore be moving several students from within our current grade 1 and grade 2 classrooms into this new class. We believe that the creation of this additional class will benefit the learning of all of our students within these grades!

We apologize in advance for any disruption this may cause for the students involved and appreciate your understanding/cooperation as we finalize class organizations for this school year. As always, our team of dedicated professional educators will partner with you to ensure all of our students are well cared for and experience educational success throughout this process. Beginning this week, parents of those students involved will be contacted regarding this process.
