DOLCH WORDS
The following words occur frequently in written materials. They are often called sight words because readers need to be able to recognize them at a glance. I have broken the pre-primer and primer lists into those words which are easy to sound out with kindergarten phonics skills (short vowel words) and those which are more difficult to sound out. The pre-primer list is the most important list to concentrate on when working with kindergarten students. Some kindergarten students will be able to learn words from the primer list and beyond.
PRE-PRIMER LIST
