Our School

Green Acres Elementary School is a JK-8 school in historic Stoney Creek that opened in 1957. The student enrollment is currently at 280 and this includes two special classes: Intermediate Comprehensive (Gr. 6-8) and a Gr. 1 Speech/Language. There are 32 staff members including teachers, educational assistants, caretakers and administrative staff. The Green Acres staff demonstrate dedication to our students, families and one another. Our goal is STUDENT SUCCESS. Our staff is committed to provide opportunities that promote HOPE for our students in the areas of academics, behaviour, emotions and respect.

Environment Focus

To provide and ensure a Safe and Orderly Environment at Green Acres Elementary School

  • Implementation of Second Step Violence Prevention Program JK-Grade 8
  • Continuation of highly successful Roots of Empathy Program
  • Monthly focus on specific social skills to develop and maintain a safe school environment for all students, culminating in monthly Success Assemblies to recognize student achievement.
  • Dedicated assemblies and speaker presentations to bring awareness to bully related issues (i.e.: Cyber Bullying) and intervention strategies to reduce incidence of bullying at school and in the community
