George R. Allan School / Parent Council

School Council is a great way to become involved in your school and keep current about what is happening in your child's school.  It is mandated by the Ministry of Education that every school has a School Council to act as a voice for parents at the school level.  George R. Allan's council is very pro-active with committees focusing on healthy snacks, school improvement and traffic and safety.

Home and School Association

The George R. Allan Home and School is a parent-run organization affiliated with the Ontario Federation of Home and School.  Its mandate is to enhance the experience for our students and to provide parents with a voice  both at the school and provincial level.  Meetings are held jointly with the Parent Council on the first Wednesday of every month.

Home and school initiatives include lunch clubs, year end talent shows and book fair, library program, annual Halloween Hike, head-lice check, and the annual BBQ for meet-the-teacher night.  Please consider being a part of the Home and School organization at George R. Allan and help contribute in providing the best education for our students.

2009 - 2010 Meeting Schedule

Joint meetings are scheduled to be from 7–9p.m. on the following dates: September 16th, October 7th, November 4th, February 3rd, April 7th, and May 5th. All are welcome to come to the meetings to take part in the discussions about school operations, fundraising and the principal’s report.  Parents have an opportunity, through these organizations, to become informed and to participate in activities and have a direct impact on their child’s achievement and satisfaction.
