HWDSB AUDITION-BASED PROGRAM OF THE ARTS

Audition Based Performing Arts Admission Timelines 2023-2024

 

Glendale Secondary School is the home to THREE HWDSB Tier 3 programmes:  HWDSB Strings Programme (Grades 9-12), a Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM)Programme in Arts & Culture – Performing Arts (Grades 11-12) and HWDSB Audition-Based Program of the Arts , (Grades 9-12).  Please click on the programme names to be directed to their pages.

These Tier 3 programmes are open to ALL students within Greater Hamilton Area with transportation being made available to those who are 3.2 kilometers or more away from Glendale Secondary School.

Our Glendale artists, actors, dancers, musicians, technicians, and composers/writers are heralded for their successes in our large productions – 2015 Tarzan the Stage Musical, 2014 A Midsummer Nights Dream, 2013 Peter Pan A Musical Adventure, 2012 YMCA Peace Medal & Eagle Feather recipient for our production Ten Miles Out,  2010 Grease – contribution to local Performing Arts groups/associations – April 2017 Midsummer Night’s Dream (Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra), 2016 The Pathways Project (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship), 2016 Art displayed at Art in the Workplace (McMaster Innovation Center), 2015 Innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship (ICE) training project (Shaw Festival), 2014 The Cat in the Hat Goes to Trial (Ontario Justice Education Network/OJEN),  hosting HWDSB DanceFest and other events in our Auditorium, plus producing a full season of concerts,shows and exhibitions each year.

Glendale Arts and Music has had the privilege to work with many industry professionals in workshops (armed and unarmed stage combat, flying,  aerial silks, music composition, street art, mixed media, film art, Shakespearean performance based in all disciplines) all over North America (Hamilton, Toronto, New York City, Chicago, Orlando).
