More than 500 music students from across HWDSB came together at Glendale secondary for two days in November to do what they do best – create music!
As winter approaches, we want to remind all HWDSB families about how we make the decision to cancel school and board operations. This is often a difficult call to make, and is made with the safety and security of our students and staff in mind.
HWDSB is holding a Women in Trades Dinner for young women in Grades 11 and 12 and their parents, guardians or caregivers on Thursday, November 30.
This is an opportunity to hear directly from women in industry about how Skilled Trades are viable career paths.

To mark Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week, HWDSB is working to make schools safer with its new bullying resource and continuing support for the board-wide use of the innovative anti-bullying TipOff service.
Community and Continuing Education has moved and is now open at the new HILL PARK LEARNING CENTRE, located at 465 East 16th Street (formerly Hill Park Secondary School).

Dear Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
Recently, our school underwent water testing for lead, in accordance with the provincial regulations (O.Reg 243/07). As a result of this testing, concerns were identified within the school. Corrective actions are now in place, and lead levels have been reduced to acceptable levels.

The Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) released the 2016-17 assessment results in the areas of Primary and Junior Reading, Writing and Mathematics, as well as the results of the Grade 9 Mathematics assessment and the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT).
Glendale’s Audition-Based Program of the Arts (ABPA) encouraged its students to grow their creative passions by providing an affordable trip to the Stratford Festival this month.
HWDSB’s French as a Second Language (FASL) Advisory Committee is seeking members to advise Trustees on elementary and secondary French programming as well as Ministry of Education and community learning supports. Applications are due by Monday, September 25, 2017.

As part of the OFSAA Try Day Initiative, Glendale Secondary School was visited by Nationwide Lacrosse in October. Led by professional Lacrosse player, Brad Self, the school clinic introduced the basics skills and strategies to newcomers and beginners.
