Fidget Spinners – please keep at home

A fidget spinner is a type of stress-relieving toy that was created to assist people who have trouble focusing or fidgeting (such as those with ADHD, autism, or anxiety) by acting as a release mechanism for nervous energy or stress. Experts are divided on this claim, with some supporting it while others dispute its scientific basis and argue the toy may actually be more distracting. As educators, we determine when these items are beneficial for children. These items are being used inappropriately by most students as the latest fad and thus need to stay home and not be brought to school. If it is determined that a student would benefit from the use of a stress relieving tool we will do our best to provide it at the school. Please keep all Fidget spinners at home from this point on.
