Director of Education John Malloy welcomes candidates who wish to teach in the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board.

How to Apply

New Teachers wishing to submit a teaching application to The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board must apply directly to www.applytoeducation.com (an external service provider). Mail-in applications will not be processed.

Individual school postings will not be posted on Apply to Education. When there is a vacant position the Principal will access Apply to Education to conduct a candidate search seeking candidates whose qualifications will best suit the needs of the school.

When applying to HWDSB through www.applytoeducation.com, your application package must include:

  1. Cover Letter
  2. Resume
  3. Practicum Assessments or Principal Evaluations
  4. Copy of Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (where possible).

World Education ServicesInternational Applicants

We encourage all international applicants to have their academic credentials evaluated prior to applying for employment, in order to accurately interpret and compare to Canadian equivalents.

WES is a not-for-profit organization that is known for the quality and reliability of its evaluations and the timeliness of its service.

Conditions of Employment

Anyone offered a position with The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board will be required to successfully complete the Pre-Employment Screening Process for the Board. The Pre-Employment Screening Process includes the requirement to provide the Board with References, a Police Record Check satisfactory to the Board, a TB Test, a job related medical note and WHMIS training. In all cases, the required information and forms will be provided before the successful applicant will be allowed to assume their duties. Specific information about these requirements will provided at the time that any offer of employment is made.
