Book Swap Coming This Friday, May 27th

The Book Swap is quickly approaching, coming up on Friday, May 27th.  Students will have an opportunity to buy books during the day for 25 cents a book, and families will have a chance to shop after school. We are still in need of books suitable for JK to Grade 5 students, as well as boxes to hold books.  Please drop these off in the photocopy room at the School. Finally we are seeking volunteers for the day of the Swap…

  • starting at 8 a.m. to set up the Swap
  • during the school day to monitor kids purchasing books
  • at 4 p.m. at the end of the Swap to pack up the leftover books

Please email [email protected] to sign up to volunteer.

Staff Appreciation Day (Friday, June 3rd)

EK Staff Appreciation Day will be held on Friday, June 3rd.  Food donations would be greatly appreciated.  Please see the link below for suggested items.  Family favourites are always welcome too!  Also, please be sure to label all containers with your child’s name and room number so they can be returned at the end of the day.  Donations can be dropped off any time between 8:00 a.m. and noon.  Thank you so much for your support!

Did you know Mrs. N. Niessen is retiring?  As part of our Staff Appreciation Celebration, we are inviting you to bring in cards, pictures, stories, and memorabilia that pay tribute to Nancy’s time at EK.  We will have a treasure box made available in the main office and items can be dropped off beginning the week of May 30th.

Earl Kitchener Playground. Vote Now!

EK School Council has submitted the Earl Kitchener Playground to be on the ballot to receive part of $3 million to be spent in Ward 1, voting closes June 3rd. EACH PERSON AT YOUR ADDRESS MAY VOTE! Lots of great ideas on the ballot for improvements across the ward. https://forward1.ca/

Are You Moving?

If you already know you will be moving, or your child will not be coming to Earl Kitchener in September, please email the office at [email protected] or call and leave a voicemail message at (905) 528-0223.  We are planning for next year, and appreciate your assistance.

Piano Lessons at Earl Kitchener

It is now time to register for in-school piano lessons at Earl Kitchener for next September.  Due to a Board of Education policy, lessons are on a semi-private basis, and take place once a week during school hours.  Students must have a piano or full-size keyboard at home on which to practice.  For more information, please contact Susan Chambers-Stothart at [email protected] or (905) 522-4303.

Have a great long weekend!
