What is E-BEST?

The Evidence-Based Education and Services Team (E-BEST) is the research service for the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. We work together with schools, departments, administrators, and research partners to carry out research activities within the board that improve school effectiveness and student achievement.

  • We support teachers and other educators in finding, using and doing research.
  • We work with external researchers to facilitate research within our Board.
  • Finally, we help decision-makers to find and use evidence to inform actions and policies in education.

What are our services?

Teachers

We help teachers to use research, do research projects, and share their results. We offer consultation services to teachers at any stage of their inquiry, and can assist with research design, literature review, data collection and analysis, and reporting results. To start on this journey, you can book an informal “Office Hour” meeting to discuss your project. Just fill in the Service Request and send it to us.

Researchers

We help researchers to conduct research within the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board. We ensure that every project has received approval from an Ethics Review Board, and facilitate the administrative review of research projects by the Board’s Executive Council. Decision Makers/Administrators

We help decision makers and administrators to use the best available evidence in making decisions. Evidence combined with an understanding of the local context can help decision makers such as principals, superintendents, and Board members to make decisions that have a greater likelihood of producing the desired results.
