Please Watch For Ticks

Public Health Services often receives inquiries regarding ticks.  Community members, students and staff should take precautions and do the following when playing outside in areas where ticks are found.

Check yourself regularly for ticks, and if found, contact Public Health Services (905 546 2489).  Currently, the public health program responsible for tick surveillance will identify the tick and test for the bacterium that causes Lyme disease, if the tick is confirmed as Black legged.

The overall risk for the City of Hamilton is low with over 95% of ticks submitted are confirmed as American Dog ticks.
