SCHOOL COUNCIL

Education is a partnership involving many parties. The mandate of the Dr. John Seaton Council is to strengthen the partnership involving parents, students, teachers, the principal, the school board, the government and the community resulting in a high quality of education and an accountable education system.

Dr. John Seaton School Council seeks to achieve this mandate by consistently focusing on student learning and the best interests of all students, by being actively involved in setting school priorities for improving student achievement,by promoting meaningful parental and community involvement, by having a clear understanding of their roles and responsibilities and by having members who have developed mutual trust and respect for one another.

Dr. John Seaton School Council meets regularly throughout the school year. Each September a Council is elected to represent the school community, however, the Council meetings are open to all. The minutes of each Council meeting and the proposed agenda for the next meeting are posted at the school. Information regarding the School Council is provided to each family through the school newsletter.
