Busy in Business …

What a great Prom! Congratulations to Ms. Pelzer and Ms. Holland, business teachers, for organizing a fun-filled evening at Chandelier Place on April 7th. Special thanks goes to the Prom Committee who made this event happen - Rachel Krause, Victoria Serkus, Maisha Baddoo, Steve Luangpakdy, Cheryl Simpson and Angel Leduc.
Watch for pictures of the Prom in this year’s Yearbook!

Yearbook students have been busy snapping pictures, gathering information, laying out pages, interviewing teachers, conducting surveys and writing articles. Special acknowledgment goes to Sara Black, Nicole Barbour, and Jeff Boccaccio for keeping up with all of the sports teams. Danielle De Long, Lindsay Pellick, Brandon Wilson and Andrea Vardy-Mills have been doing a smash up job covering the stories behind all of the clubs at Delta. Stephanie Guzzo, Alyssa Loverro and Amanda Rogers have done extremely well in working on the Grad pages. Hailey Barton and Dana Cooke have been doing an exceptional job in covering all of the special events at Delta and have a lot more to cover in May! For example, the Yearbook Class is organizing the Carnival on May 20th.

Delta Carnival is being held on Friday, May 20th in the afternoon for ALL Delta students. Come celebrate a great year at a great school—D.S.S! There are a lot of free activities to enjoy. Minimal prices will be charged for larger events. Bring some quarters and loonies to enjoy a barbeque lunch. Then eat candy floss or snow cones. Then try dunking your favourite teacher in the dunk tank. Challenge a friend to a boxing match in the bouncy boxing ring! Listen to great live bands! Try out a temporary tattoo! There will be so many things to do and see! The whole school is contributing activities! Come with your Delta friends and enjoy!

The school store has a new name for this semester—The Lunchie Munchie Shack—and a new group of operators. The promotions team of Chad Guay, Tyler Maillet, Dan Sharpe, Ryan Stephan and Matt Wong have been busy communicating the new products and sales. The finance team of Travis Briand, Alecia Guja and Mark Springstead have been busy controlling the money. The human resource team of Joanna Flores Cisneros and Cory Thompson have been busy scheduling, training and motivating employees. The purchasing team of Nathan Lane and Mara Rolfe have been ordering new exciting products. This is the first semester for the school store to sell AA and AAA batteries, freezies, drumsticks, fudgesicles and ice cream sandwiches. Great ideas, great sales!

The grade 11 Law class has two trips planned for May. The class is going to visit the Ontario Police College on May 10th. On May 19th, they will be visiting the John Sopinka Court House.

The grade 12 Accounting class will have several guest speakers over the next two months. Visitors from each of the accounting designations (CMA, CA and CGA) will speak to the potential future accountants.
