I hope everyone had a relaxing March Break with friends and family. Despite some of the weather, it was great to get outside and get some fresh air!
Happy Belated Pi Day (March 14)! For those that need a refresher, Pi is equivalent to the ratio between the circumference of a circle and its diameter.
Congratulations to all the students who participated in the Skills Competition at Henderson prior to the break. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and expertise that Delta students have! A big thank you is extended to our dynamic Tech department who have been supporting our students all year! Congrats!
Last Thursday, I sat in in the Out of Catchment (OOC) meeting for all Principals and Superintendents. This was part of the OOC process for the 2018/19 school year. In total, there were 81 individuals that were granted acceptance across the district. For all OOC requests moving forward, they need to be sent to the Superintendent responsible for the receiving school. For more information, please let me know.
Last Wednesday, I met with Joanne Hall, System Organizational Principal, Barry Smith and Sue Dunlop to explore the possibility of have a joint learning opportunity with all Heads from SJAM and Delta later this year. I will be sending out an email shortly looking for 3-4 Heads that would like to participate in an upcoming planning session. If interested, please watch for the email and let me know.
On Tuesday, I have been given the opportunity to meet with individuals from Boards above Lake Superior in order to discuss how we support eLearning within HWDSB. We have been seen as a leader around the Province with respect to delivery, instruction and organization.
Parent Teacher Night is this Thursday evening from 5:00 – 7:00. We will be following a similar format to the fall, therefore if you have any questions, please see Guidance. Thank you in advance for your time as we support the students and parents at the school.
Prior to Parents Night, we will be having our March Staff meeting in the Staff room. We will be continuing our work around Continuous School Improvement as we look to technology and how we can support your learning. Following the staff meeting will be a dinner in the cafeteria. Thank you Ms. Paduano, Suzy and Luba for putting dinner together for us!
As we prepare for this year’s Literacy test (OSSLT), we will be holding a quick literacy meeting on Friday at 12:30 in the Office Conference room. There are still a few minor adjustments to be made to the schedule, however at this time, we have a plan as to how it will be implemented. We will share this information to you at the start of next week for distribution to the school community.
Have a great week!
