We are now definitely in the homestretch of semester one! Thank you for your patience, hard work and dedication to the Delta community!
Thank you to our in school staffing committee for their help navigating the winter staffing process as we head into semester two. With multiple postings being listed, the team has done a great job keeping everyone informed and updated should questions arise. If you have any future questions, please don’t hesitate to connect with one of the committee members – Mr. Flynn, Mr. Corey, Mr. Darby, or a member of Admin.
Thank you Ms. Duncan for your help as we sat down with Special Education consultant George Mantik to go through the new process of student moderation. This will help in determining specific school needs and better inform the allocation of our amazing Educational Assistants moving forward.
I am very proud of everyone as I reflect on the visit from Director Figueiredo and Superintendent Dunlop last Friday. I would say without hesitation that they were able to truly witness the true heart of Delta. On the visit we saw hard working students and staff in classrooms, tech shops, the kitchen and the Library. Mr. Figueiredo even came across some students in grade 12 that had him as a Principal at Memorial Elementary when they were in Grade 2!
On Tuesday, Ms. Dywan, Ms. Halblander, Ms. Close, Ms. Bucci, Mr. Haddad and I will participate in the monthly Transition meeting as we prepare for the opening of the New North Secondary School. If you have any questions about the process, please see a member of the team.
This Wednesday, I will be participating in an internal transition meeting. This provides me an opportunity to meet with the senior managers of Finance and Facilities, as well as the architects and superintendents to gain more information about the progress of the new school. I will continue to share any new information that I receive.
We will be welcoming our future students and parents this Wednesday evening for the Grade 7/8 Options night. This provides an opportunity to discuss more about options sheets, requirements of high school and programs that students may be interested in. Thank you in advance to all staff who will be helping out with the evening!
Grade 9 EQAO Math testing will occur this week on Thursday and Friday. Please be mindful of testing when passing through the math hallway. Thank you Ms. Seabrook and Ms. Greco for your help organizing the test!
Have you had a chance to check out the bleachers in the lower gym? They look fantastic! Our Caretaking team were able to put a fresh coat of paint on the floor and seats, as well as a red stripe through the football change room. Thank you for helping to make Delta look great!
Have a phenomenal week!
