Educational Impact
Using computers for more than a wordprocessor will open up the opportunity for people in the field of education to collaborate and dicuss important issues surrouding schools and students needs. The fact that I have read this article is prove in itself that offering infomation on the World Wide Web will open up the minds of many
Teacher Impact
Integreting the computer into the curriculum will expand the use of a computer. It can be used to research, draw and manipulate pictures, complete webquests and the ability to transfer information to other teachers and students without the use of paper.
Other Impacts
This will also impact parents at home, they them selves will have to keep updated on all of the changes. We should ensure that they are not left out and are included in the ever changing classroom.
Educational Impact
‘When children use the computer for avoidance reasons, breed isolation, and physical inactvity, this could become prolematic.’ As a Kinesolgy graduate I do agree that computers have had an impact on obesity in chidren. It is at the ministry level that we must enforce that phisical activity is important for all, and stop decreasing the amount of PE classes in school. We shoud maintain a balance, and take care of body and mind.
Teacher Impact
As teachers we should encourage group activities within our classrooms to create the opportunity for students to develop social skills and offer their ideas and opinions. The computer generation spend a lot of their time alone engaged in an activity without ever interacting with another person. Teachers and parents must work together to ensure that our children are given the chance to interact with their peers. This is crucial in a teachers daily and weekly planning to develop activities that not only incorporate computers but discussions.
Other Impacts
With the increased amount of curriculum that needs to be taught we must have a vision that entails all the components of a students education and that includes education on health bodies.
Educational Impact
The spending of money to integrate computers into the classroom has been a focus for the past 20 years, but the money that is needed to do this seems to coming from other areas. Most schools need repairs and supplies and have for a long time . Why then do we have money to spend on new technology today but yesterday the money was non-existent. We seem to have jumped into a new world of technology without considering all of the other factors.
The spending of money to integrate computers into the classroom must also encompass the spending of money to educate the teachers who will be implementing the curriculum. In most cases at the upper level the money is allocated by individuals who have been out of the classroom for a long time. They are unaware of all of the demands that a teacher faces regarding less funds for books and classroom supplies.
We are all aware of the importance of technology in our lives, but lets do it right the first time and ensure that our students are benefiting and not suffering from our mistakes.
Educational Intact
With all of the controversies in the media at this time, it is important to ensure that if we spend money on computers they should be used effectively. Some teacher who encourage students to learn everyday forget that they also need to learn . Who ever heard of good teacher who is not willing to learn?
The use of computers effectively in the classroom indeed would open up a whole new world for media presentations. The ability of teachers to take advantage of this is cucial to special educational needs in the classroom. A good teacher presents any information to their students in many different ways. It has been proven that all students learn differently, wether it be abstract or visual, the use of computers and other attachments could improve the chances for student to understand the information being presented.
We know that the importance of computers in the classroom is very important to learning, but who will teach the teachers? Not only do teachers have to keep up with all the demands of curriculum, added duties and in-services they now need to learn how to effectively use a computer in the classroom. One important factor to remember is that the computer is there to make it easier for teachers to record, manipulate and output data not to confuse or add on to their work load.
Educational Impact
The influence of technology on our students has an effect on the people who are responsible for providing all of the amenities of every generation. But do we have the means and the funds to keep up with the ever going Information Technology Department? It will be interesting to see in ten years how the ministry will be able to improve the technology in every school when today we are delaying repairs to schools that in some cases are considered safety hazards.
Teacher Impact
As a teacher I understand that most of my students will know as much or more than myself in Information Technology. As an educator I need to be aware of the gap and incorporate this into my planning. They say that, “to teach is to learn twice.”
Other Impacts
The students who are able to keep up the changes will continue to enhance their skills across many curricular areas, but we must not forget that not all students are at the same level. We must ensure that students are given the opportunity to start with the basics and move from there.
