Student Success Supports

Last updated on Wednesday, January 11, 2012.

Our school has one LRT and two ESL teachers who support our students in meeting expectations.

We have two SWIS (Settlement Workers in School) staff at Central School. These individuals work at Central on Monday and Thursday and are able to provide a variety of information and services to families and students.

During the Fall 2011 Central School enjoyed a partnership with Delta Secondary. Students involved in the Specialist High Skills Major program worked in our Junior Kindergarten classes on a weekly basis. The Delta students gained experience in working with young children as part of their adult career plan and our Kindergarten students definitely enjoyed the attention and support. We hope to continue this partnership with Delta Secondary in the future.

Central School also has a partnership with Mohawk College. Students studying in the Early Childhood Education program, the Early Childhood Assistant program, and the Social Service Work program complete placements at Central.

Mentors from the Boys and Girls Club visit Central School on a very regular basis. We appreciate the efforts of these young adults in our school.
