Parking Regulations Around Schools

Thank you to all of the Caregivers who are helping support the changes to the safe arrival for students plan. Some caring adults have had questions about the signs around the school so the following key points are taken from the City of Hamilton website under the section Parking Near Schools

Parking regulations around schools:

1. No Stopping- These areas are likely to be found at intersections, school crossing guard locations or crosswalks where there is a high concentration of students crossing the street. Drivers are NOT allowed to stop in these areas as it jeopardizing the safety of students walking to and from school.

2. No Parking – This means that a vehicle can stop in these areas for immediate drop off and pick up of school children. It does not, however, mean that the driver can wait for their child before or after the bell.

3. In many cases, the No Parking areas around the schools are for specific periods of time such as from 7 am to 6 pm. No Parking areas are normally located where it is safest to momentarily stop to pick up or drop off children – this would include the area close to the green primary doors at CB Stirling. Waiting for your child is still not allowed at this area. For more information please visit the City of Hamilton website at https://www.hamilton.ca/streets-transportation/tickets-parking/parking-near-schools

CB Stirling is on a regular visit list with the City of Hamilton By-Law enforcement team and we will continue to support this change with principal presence as much as possible. The very positive support for this change is appreciated as we move to improve safety for our students
